{"id":2789,"date":"2022-04-06T09:41:43","date_gmt":"2022-04-06T07:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/biblemedia.co\/?p=2789"},"modified":"2022-04-06T09:41:44","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T07:41:44","slug":"sama-calls-for-intensive-vaccination-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/biblemedia.co\/index.php\/2022\/04\/06\/sama-calls-for-intensive-vaccination-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"SAMA calls for intensive vaccination campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The South African Medical Association (SAMA) says there is a need for intensive campaigning for more people to vaccinate against COVID-19, despite the lifting of the National State of Disaster (NSD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAMA welcomed the lifting of the National State of Disaster by President Cyril Ramaphosa, describing it as a positive step for South Africa and the correct move forward for the country\u2019s beleaguered economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cConsidering the decreasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country, ending the National State of Disaster is the appropriate step in government\u2019s response to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSAMA supports the decision in the same way that it supported the decision to institute the NSD as a means to deal with the impact of COVID-19 at the beginning of the pandemic,\u201d SAMA CEO, Dr Vusumuzi Nhlapho, said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nhlapho said over the past two years, hospitals have been confronted with serious resource challenges, including human resources.
