Facebook will change its corporate name to Meta, with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp remaining under the Meta umbrella.
With his company under fire for a host of issues, Mark Zuckerberg said the change was part of a bet on the “metaverse.”
Zuckerberg wrote: “We opened this year’s Connect with a film that shares our vision for a future made by all of us.”
“The metaverse is the next evolution of social connection. It’s a collective project that will be created by people all over the world, and open to everyone. You’ll be able to socialize, learn, collaborate and play in ways that go beyond what’s possible today.”

The World Council of Churches (WCC) acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca expressed great joy about being able to plan for an in-person meeting after COVID-19 forced meetings to be online for two years.
“Being able to prepare for both the WCC executive committee and the WCC 11th Assembly gives us cause to celebrate, even while being prayerfully conscious of the grave challenges still weighing heavily on the shoulders of our one human family,” said Sauca.

The South African Christian Leadership (SACL) wrote in a Twitter post: “It is unacceptable that the Moti Brothers have still not been located. We are supposed to wait on the Police, but we do not know about their effectiveness (they were not very effective before the July riots so not sure what confidence we are supposed to have now). The public needs updates”.

A statement released by Eskom stated: “Eskom regrets to announce that Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented until 05:00 on Friday, thereafter loadshedding will continue on Stage 2 till 05:00 Saturday morning.”
