A member of the World Council of Churches central committee, Temple spoke at the 29 October International Ecumenical Conference for Peace and Security in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.
“The happenings in Cabo Delgado in Mozambique, in the northern part of Mozambique are a really sad situation. It’s a sad story,” said Temple.
“As ordinary citizens suffer at the hands of the Islamic State-affiliated, Al Shabaab, that are conducting sophisticated military operations. And the suffering also comes while they’re still trying to cope with the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.”

South Africa has vaccinated 10 930 people on Sunday, of which 2 361 were children between the ages of 12 and 17.
According to the Department of Health, this means there is now 23 151 823 distributed doses since the start of the inoculation programme. Data shows that 12 855 692 or 32% adults are now fully vaccinated. In addition, there are 210 149 single Pfizer doses given to teenagers in the country.

Vaccine hesitancy refers to delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccination despite the availability of vaccination services.
One of the reasons owing to the gap to target herd immunity is the public perception and misinformation on vaccination. Eskom has started implementing load shedding Stage 4 from 13:00 this afternoon until 05:00 on Friday and then it will be downgraded to Stage 2 until 05:00 on Saturday.
This comes after the power utility announced on Sunday that it expects to continue with Stage 2 load shedding until Saturday morning.

Health Minister, Dr Joe Phaahla, has once again urged people to take the COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the imminent fourth wave that could hit the country soon.
“We are not oblivious to the fact that we are not yet out of trouble. The virus is still in our midst and every day we record a number of infections, it is only that it is at the low level of transmission at this stage,” the Minister said on Friday.
Phaahla was speaking during the 2021 Rotary Health Family Day outreach programme at Gomora Informal Settlement, in Pretoria West.
